Thanksgiving

Green beans and bacon, gravy, smoked turkey, and turkey dressing throwdown!

This is a collection of various Thanksgiving-grade recipes.

Turkey:
Bottom line with turkey: bake at 325F for 1 1/2-3 hours depending on the size, until it’s 170F in the middle…put seasonings in before you start. I typically have the dressing on the side rather than stuffed so it gets a little crunch to it.
Smoked Turkey
Turkey Brine

Sides:
Cranberry Fruit Salad (Sugar Optional)
Cranberry Relish
Broccoli Slaw
Green Beans and Bacon
Turkey Dressing
Twice-Baked Potato Casserole
Macaroni and Cheese

Gravy: my stepsister Adrian has a great recipe: turkey broth, water, corn starch, mashed carrots/celery that she roasted with the turkey, and salt and pepper. Use an immersion blender to mash the veggies. This works better when the veggies are cooked with a moist heat! I tried (2024) doing this by throwing them in the oven (albeit loosely) in the pan with the turkey and they were so dried out that the stick blender really struggled and jammed and made an annoying mess.

Desserts:
Bruleed Bourbon-Maple Pumpkin Pie
Pumpkin Bars
Pumpkin Bread
Pumpkin Cheesecake Bars
Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream
Pecan Pie
